Projects
Education
is one of the key elements in overcoming gender inequality, environmental
degradation, HIV/AIDS, and poverty. This is why OMEGA focuses on
grassroots community education projects, to enable local communities
and individuals to empower themselves and secure a better future.
Currently, all OMEGA projects are in the north central area of Tanzania,
East Africa in the Arusha and Moshi areas near the base of Mt. Kilimanjaro.
We are currently working in northern Tanzania to bring quality education
to poor communities that desperately need it.
Here is a list of our most current projects. Please read more about
how you can help.

Amani Orphan Secondary
School
Amani Orphans Nursery and Primary School was established in 1998.
Today, with over 400 students enrolled from nursery school through
7th grade, Amani has reached maximum capacity. Amani is looking
for your help to build a secondary school to continue to bring
education to the kids that need it most. |

Tuamkeni Orphan Care
School
In one of the poorest slums in Arusha, Tanzania, 35 little children
are getting a head start on education. "Tuamkeni," which
translated from Swahili means "Wake Up!" It is the
name of a pre-primary school for orphans in an effort to get
the community to "wake up" and help the community's
orphans. Tuamkeni is looking to construct an actual school building
to bring hope and education to children that have lost so much. |

Step-by-Step
An inclusive school for learning disabled and able students,
Step-by-Step was opened in 2005. Little or no educational
facilities for students with learning disabilities are available
in Tanzania. Step-by-Step's founder, Margaret Kenyi, envisioned
an educational facility where children with learning difficulties,
together with students without learning difficulties, could
together receive a quality education to reach their highest
potential. The Learning Center plans to expand Step by Step
into the first "inclusive" primary and secondary
school in the Arusha area that will serve as an example for
all schools in Tanzania. |

Aldersgate
School in Babati
This multi-faceted project is connected in name only to the Aldersgate
Church in Lubbock, Texas and consists of a Christ-centered school
with 800 students. It is also host to a Bible-school, which trains
pastors and a child-sponsorship program called "Children
of Promise." There are projects within the year to build
three dormitories and an administration building on the school
grounds. |

Mswakini Primary School
With 368 students in only four classrooms, Mswakini Primary School
is extremely overcrowded and in serious need of additional
classrooms. The administration and community envision developing
a complete pre-primary and primary school to continue to
serve the great education needs of the Massai people in this
impoverished region. |
