What We Do

Empowering people to fight poverty

OMEGA believes that community development is one way to put faith into action.

We work hand-in-hand with rural and poor communities empowering them to reach a better level of education through locally managed education initiatives. We engage in sustainable development by maximizing community resources, encouraging them to do as much as they possibly can—and if there is still a need for outside assistance—by providing support through private donations, short-term missions teams, volunteers, and professionals.

From start to finish, my experience with OMEGA, its' leaders, and the recipients of our mission work, was so positive that it will have a permanent influence on my life and my faith journey.”

— Becky Rittimann

…Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do”

James 2:18

Our work matches volunteers with community based schools and education projects. These projects are designed to allow our volunteers and teams plenty of interaction within the local community and also allow the local community to make a difference in the places they live. Fighting poverty begins with building lasting relationships and providing the essentials of education.

For more information about the schools we support, please check out our current projects.

OMEGA holds to the following Sustainable Development principles when supporting local community development projects:

  • OMEGA will not manage, control, or take ownership of any community-based development project.
  • OMEGA will support and partner with local churches and/or communities in their development projects by providing financial assistance, professional consultation, training and education, and needed supplies.
  • OMEGA will make all possible efforts to avoid negatively influencing, changing, or damaging the communities or cultures in which it works.
  • OMEGA will enable ownership—not dependence—by providing training, support, and encouragement for the community members who are involved in managing local projects.
